SHINING's New Single To Include ALICE COOPER Cover

May 21, 2011

Swedish extreme metallers SHINING will release a CD single which will only be available in their home country. The single will contain two tracks "Frtvivlan, Min Arvedel", taken from the band's new album, "VII / Fdd Frlorare"; and a previously unreleased cover of the ALICE COOPER song "Prince Of Darkness". This will be the first time that SHINING has released a single, and founder and front man Niklas Kvarforth is hopeful that the new video, which was filmed recently and is currently being edited, will be included along with the two tracks. "We are trying to get the video included, but the people behind the single are a little nervous, and probably quite rightly so given its subject matter and content. We are looking into the possibility of maybe including a censored version. We'll see how that pans out, but whatever happens, the uncensored version will definitely appear very soon, so SHINING fans who have been waiting for it, will not be disappointed.

Following the Swedish release, the band will consider the possibility of releasing a different version of the single elsewhere.

SHINING recently filmed a video for a song from "VII / Fdd Frlorare", which in English means "Born Loser". According to the band, the clip, which will make its online debut on May 25, "might not be the most extreme thing you will ever see, but it will definitely be one of the most uncomfortable."

Following on from the recent news that SHINING had parted company with Indie Recordings and signed with Spinefarm Records, the band has debuted a track from "VII / Fdd Frlorare". The track "Frtvivlan, Min Arvedel" can be heard using the SoundCloud player below.

All the music and lyrics for "VII / Fdd Frlorare", which is due for release on May 25, were written by SHINING's founder and frontman Niklas Kvarforth, and the album was recorded over what the band describes as "three long years" inside the Slaughterhouse studios in Sweden, with Rickard Bengtsson once again producing.

Kvarforth himself defines the finished result as "THE" SHINING album. "It is", he commented, "the natural successor to our fifth album 'V/Halmstad', rather than to our last release, 'VI/Klagopsalmer', which I have always thought of as more of an experiment both in terms of writing and performance."
